CHANGES TO CME REQUIREMENTS
(8/18/06)

Summary of Changes:
When HB 699 was signed into law, it made changes to
your CME requirements for Florida Relicensure.
The CHANGES are:
- Domestic Violence is now a 2-hour
requirement every third renewal (every 6 years).
- End-of-Life Care is no longer available
as a substitution for Domestic Violence.
The current HIV/AIDS requirement has been CHANGED.
The final determination was made by the Board of
Osteopathic Medicine.
- 3-hours of HIV/AIDS prior
to licensure is NO LONGER
REQUIRED.
- 1-hour of HIV/AIDS is
required prior to the end of your first
renewal.
As of August
2006 - CME Requirements for Florida Relicensure
For the licensure period beginning April 1, 2006
- March 31, 2008, each physician must complete a
total of 40 CME hours, 20 of which must be Category
1-A.
Included in the 40 hours, there are five
(5) mandatory hours required for Florida relicensure
(each licensure period) and cannot be taken by correspondence.
The following must be LIVE, PARTICIPATORY
credits:
- 2 hours of Prevention of Medical
Errors
- 1 hour of Risk
Management
- 1 hour of Florida
Laws & Rules
- 1 hour of Uses
& Abuses of Controlled Substances
The following may be taken by correspondence:
- 2 hours of Domestic Violence every
6 years starting 4/1/06
FOR NEW LICENSEES ONLY:
- 1 hour of HIV/AIDS must be
taken before the end of your FIRST
licensure renewal. All those that are not in their
first two years of licensure are NOT REQUIRED
to take an HIV/AIDS course.
REMEMBER: Any FOMA CME meeting you attend
you will receive ALL of your MANDATORY hours and
those hours will be reported to CE Broker for you
