Tallahassee, FL – Joseph A. Giaimo, DO, president, participated in a town hall meeting on Medicare Prescription Drug Part D Coverage with Governor Jeb Bush, Florida Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Carole Green, Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration Secretary Alan Levine and local community leaders. The meeting was hosted by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt and was held on November 9, 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Everyone with Medicare, regardless of income, health status, or prescription drug usage, will have access to prescription drug coverage beginning on January 1, 2006. Dr. Giaimo has announced his FOMA initiative to help Medicare beneficiaries make informed decisions and choose a plan that best suits their needs. Enrollment for Medicare’s new prescription drug coverage began November 15, 2005 and goes through May 15, 2006.

As part of his initiative, the FOMA has joined the Medicare Rx Access Network of Florida. Dr. Giaimo participated in a training workshop given by the Medicare Rx Access Network in order to be better informed on the new Medicare Part D Drug Program.

The FOMA represents osteopathic physicians and their patients in Florida and is dedicated to ensuring patient access; the advancement of the science and art of osteopathic medicine and surgery; to extend and improve healthcare and benefits of scientific advancement in the treatment, prevention, and alleviation of human ailments to the citizens in the state of Florida.
