In order to retain their Florida licenses, osteopathic physicians must earn a set number of hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit.
All Osteopathic Physicians must complete the following required courses for their Florida Licensure Renewal: Course Hours Live/Participatory
Florida Laws and Rules & Professional and Medical Ethics 1 Yes Opioid Prescribing 2 No Prevention of Medical Errors 2 Yes
You must complete 40 total continuing medical education hours, including the required hours above.
20 continuing medical education hours must be AOA Category 1-A hours; these hours may include any required course above if the required course is certified in Category 1-A by the AOA.
You may only complete 8 total home-study hours to satisfy renewal requirements (see Home Study Hours, below).
No more than 5 hours of CME credit in the area of risk management will be awarded to licensees in each biennium.
REMEMBER: Any FOMA CME meeting you attend you will receive ALL of your MANDATORY hours and those hours will be reported to CE Broker and the AOA for you as a member benefit !

To help Florida's osteopathic physicians earn these credits, the FOMA holds several meetings each year. Our Annual Convention is held each spring in Fort Lauderdale and our Mid-Year Seminar is held each fall in Tampa. We also hold smaller meetings around the state throughout the year. Discounts on registration rates are available to all FOMA members.
