Active Member

Applicants for Active Membership shall be graduates of schools of osteopathic medicine accredited through the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), licensed to practice osteopathic medicine in Florida, and a member of their district society unless there is no active district society in their area.

Included within Florida Osteopathic Medical Association dues is a $25.00 dollar contribution to the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association‑Political Action Committee (FOMA‑PAC) which uses those contributions to help elect friends of osteopathic medicine to State and Local office and utilizes funds for advancing the interests of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. Contributions to FOMA‑PAC are voluntary. If you do not wish to contribute to FOMA‑PAC, you may request that the contribution be utilized for non‑PAC purposes or refunded to you by making a written request to the FOMA office. Dues payments and contributions to FOMA‑PAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for Federal Income Tax purposes. FOMA dues payments may be partially deductible by members as an ordinary and necessary business expense. Twenty percent of the dues are not deductible in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 6033. 

$3.00 of your FOMA dues is being contributed to the Florida Physician Recovery Network. (PRN) Additional information can be found at www.flprn.org.

An Associate Membership may be granted to any person, excepting Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who are licensed to practice in this state.

Applicants for Active Faculty Membership shall be graduates of schools accredited for osteopathic medicine through the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), full-time paid faculty of any osteopathic medical school in the state of Florida, and a member of their district society unless there is no active district society in their area.

Membership is limited to those on active U. S. Public Health Service or active Military Service or an employee of the VA/DOH.

Residents & Fellows

Applicants for Resident and Fellow Membership shall be in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) training programs in Florida and  have graduated from a COCA accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine. Students currently enrolled in a COCA accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine may be granted membership by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees who are present and voting at any regularly scheduled meeting even though they may not hold a license to practice in Florida.

Applicants for Inactive/Retired Membership shall be graduates of a COCA accredited college of osteopathic medicine, reside in Florida, but not practice osteopathic medicine and surgery.
