Anita Winkler DO, DO, MPH CPE

Anita Winkler is a retired United States Air Force Colonel with over twenty years of Active-Duty military medical experience which includes leadership positions such as Medical Commander, Chief of the Medical Staff, Chief of Aerospace Medicine, and Public Health Emergency Officer. Anita started her career as an Air Force operating room nurse after receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Auburn University. She then went on to medical school courtesy of an Air Force scholarship at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine with a residency in Family Practice in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Anita then continued her medical education with a Master’s in Public Health as part of her preventative medicine residency in Aerospace Medicine from the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks City Base, Texas. Anita is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Aerospace Medicine and by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians for Family Medicine.
Anita is currently the Chief Medical Officer for Occupational Health Services at Acuity International. In this position, Anita serves as senior physician leadership and oversight providing clinical, financial, and operations strategy to support occupational health exams for state and federal government agencies, as well as commercial corporations.
On a personal note, Anita, and her husband Steve call Merritt Island Florida home. They enjoy the local area activities to include boating, outdoor grilling, walks on the beach, visiting historic Cocoa Village and the occasional cruise from Port Canaveral.
